About

Austin Willhoft, Esq.

Austin Willhoft was born in Taiwan and moved to Southern California when he was five. Austin’s parents divorced and remarried when he was young, leading him to grow up in a dynamic blended family household. His grandfather played a significant role in his life, guiding him through the challenges of cultural diversity and family expectations during an emotional and uncertain period. The values instilled by his grandfather—honor, loyalty, and compassion—are still with Austin today.

During Austin’s freshman year of college, his grandfather was diagnosed with dementia, and soon began to forget Austin and exhibit unusual behavior. The situation became even more complicated due to the lack of an estate plan, which led to significant issues among family members after his grandfather passed away. Austin witnessed firsthand how the absence of an estate plan can create chaos and confusion in families.

Before pursuing a legal career, Austin first earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism from the University of Oregon, followed by a Master’s Degree in Advertising and Brand Responsibility. He then worked as a journalist in Taiwan, where he developed a deep appreciation for clear communication, cultural sensitivity, and the power of storytelling.

Austin achieved his Juris Doctor from Willamette University College of Law with a focus on advocacy, planning, and service. During law school, he gained extensive experience in the Trust & Estates clinic, where he drafted estate plans, assisted with probate matters, and supported families in navigating long-term care and incapacity planning. His commitment to elder law and Medicaid planning also flourished as he worked closely with underserved and marginalized communities, reinforcing his dedication to providing accessible and dignified legal services.

Today, Austin Willhoft focuses his practice on estate planning, Medicaid planning, and elder law. His goal is to offer steady guidance, practical solutions, and peace of mind—helping individuals and families prepare thoughtfully for the future while navigating complex legal systems with confidence.

Austin is bilingual in English and Mandarin.

Zelda

Meet Zelda – Attorney-At-Paw 🐾

Zelda is the unofficial (but very important) member of the firm. While she doesn’t draft wills or review trusts, she takes her role of making people feel welcome very seriously. Zelda is an advocate for making sure your pets are taken care of through pet trusts.

Estate planning conversations can sometimes feel intimidating, and Zelda believes they should feel comfortable, approachable, and even a little enjoyable.

You may have the chance to meet her during estate plan signings—or by special request. She’s always happy to stop by, say hello, and accept the occasional belly rub or treat.
